Spider – Nephila Lucilia – necklace & detachable spider brooch

Our fabulous jeweller, Richelle, won the judges’ award as well as people’s choice award in the 2018 Cynet Bay Pearl Jewellery Design competition with this amazing necklace with detachable spider brooch. We are so proud to have had her as part of our team.  Lisa & I had seen Richelle win the Apprentice of the Year a number of years ago and always hoped that she’d join us one day.   Richelle named this piece of jewellery art Nephila Lucilia.  The spider is a Golden Orb Weaver spiders that surround the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. The name Nephila Lucilia is taken from the scientific names of the golden orb weaver and the green bottlefly. The spider itself is a detachable brooch. This magnificent piece was handmade in 9ct yellow & white gold features Australian South Sea Pearls as well as black diamonds and Tsavorite garnets.
