Replacing missing diamonds and gemstones requires attention to detail, persistence and expertise to match stones for replacement. The shape, cut, colour, clarity and cartage must match so that a repair or custom make is to a premium quality.
It also requires the specialist skills of a qualified stone setter, which is a separate apprenticeship to a jewellery apprenticeship.
The existing setting may need to be repaired for the stones to be secure and not fall out again.
